Care and Protection Guide

Hygienic surfaces!
Grado is a hygienic surface with its non-staining surfaces and non-porous structure that does not absorb liquids. It has a structure that does not allow microorganisms to reproduce so suitable for use on kitchen counters. Thanks to the NSF51 certificate approved by NSF, it is offered for use safely.

It maintains its shine on the first day!
Quartz slabs do not need to be polished or polishing process after leaving the factory. It is a surface that is resistant to contamination with its stain-resistant structure. Thanks to the materials used in daily cleaning, quartz plates preserve the brightness of the first day. Leaving concentrated solutions (oven-cooker cleaners, floor cleaners, toilet bowl cleaners,sink drain openers, stain removers, etc.) on the surface for more than 1 hour may cause discoloration. It is recommended to use cleaning materials with a pH between 5-8,5. Cleaners above 8.5 pH (such as salt spirit) cause the countertop to fade and its surface to deteriorate. Using appropriate chemicals thanks to the cleaning, the natural appearance of the surface is prevented from being damaged.

Stubborn Stains
Grado does not cause staining thanks to the resistance of quartz, which is 90% of its composition, against chemicals. Provided that they are not in direct contact for a long time, tea, coffee and acidic substances such as lemon and cola do not cause staining. In the event that there is a stain on the counter due to dried food from food residues or any other substance, sharp tools should definitely be avoided. Instead, try to clean the stain from the surface with the help of a plastic spatula, taking care to clean the stain before it dries. Afterwards, it should be cleaned with liquid detergent and a damp cloth and rinsed with sufficient water. And it should be dried after rinsing thoroughly. Leaving water puddles on the cleaned countertop surfaces should be avoided. Water accumulations remaining on the surface may form lime stains over time. Cleaning method according to the type of stain;

Daily cleaning -> A damp cloth

Light stains -> Cleaning detergent

Dried, difficult stains -> Diluted bleach

High Impact Resistance
90% of countertop is made of quartz, the hardest semi-precious mineral stone found in nature, with a hardness scale of 7 Mohs constitutes. Thanks to its high quartz percentage, it has high impact resistance as it is among the hardest stones. In this way, a surface material with high abrasion and scratch resistance is obtained. However, in order for your countertop not to lose its first-day smoothness for many years, sharp and cutting tools should not be used directly. It is recommended to use a cutting board. Countertop corners and edges are sensitive to impacts. For this reason, on the countertop dropping any heavy objects should be avoided.

Heat Resistance

Grado structurally resists higher temperatures than other countertop materials shows. However, like any surface, there may be a possibility of damage due to thermal shock in case of sudden and extreme temperature changes. At high temperatures, reactions such as cracking, color change and deterioration in the structure may be observed on the countertop. For this reason, direct contact with hot containers or electrical heating and cooking devices that have just come out of the stove or oven (electric pans, kettle, etc.) should be avoided. Therefore trivet should be used for the avoid direct contact.
